I would be okay with it if he made a fortune doing it. I have done worse for money in my life.

The second special is good too. Explains his 12-year absence.

I'm watching American Made right now. I don't usually like Tom Cruise, but this is pretty good..

It was enjoyable and loosely based on actual events.

Yeah, I read up about him. Very loosely based on actual events. Still, as you said, pretty enjoyable and one of a small handful of movies that I actually enjoyed Tom Cruise in (the others being Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia and Vanilla Sky, although I guess he was OK in Jack Reacher as well, but you can plug pretty much anyone into that kind of role)...

He was pretty good in Minority Report too...

What was up with the brother in law? How could you run an operation like that and think it's even marginally OK to have somebody like that within 1000 miles of you?

I thought he was okay as Lestat in "Interview/Vamp" and as Maverick in "Top Gun" too.

Hell, throw in "A Few Good Men" and "War of the Worlds"

I don't think he's a bad actor.

Didn't see WOTW. Would've much preferred somebody else as LeStat. He's not a bad actor, but I feel like you could plug somebody else into many of his roles and they would do just as good or better. I mean, like in A Few Good Men, I can't really imagine anyone else in the Jack Nicholson role than Jack Nicholson (which is actually true of a lot of his movies), but I could easily imagine, say, Matt Damon in Cruise's role in that movies. Come to think of it, I can imagine Matt Damon in pretty much any Tom Cruise role, without the movie suffering from it...

I love the scene in war of the worlds when they all stop for the train crossing and a train speeding out of control and with every car on fire blows by them, then the train crossing bars raise up and they go on about their business

I like Matt Damon, too. Not sure that's a real distinction or fault of Cruise.

I feel like if Tom Cruise had been Damon's character in Good Will Hunting, he would've been annoying as hell..

Also I forgot Cruise's undoubtedly best role ever, as the movie mogul in Tropic Thunder. That was awesome...
