41-38 final. This season needed a good shaking up, and Michigan State and Texas Tech provided it tonight. Great night of football.

Texas Tech coach accused of investment fraud

Post by JRB » Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:51 pm

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP)—Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville is being accused of defrauding investors out of more $1.7 million in Alabama following his tenure at Auburn.

A federal lawsuit filed Friday in Montgomery, Ala., names Tuberville, John David Stroud and eight investment entities as defendants, claiming the two men “employed devices, schemes, and artifices to defraud” seven plaintiffs from Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee.

The suit says Tuberville and Stroud misappropriated assets, and falsified client statements and fund performance reports as they “unjustly enriched themselves” at the expense of the investors.

Tuberville, who spent two seasons away from coaching after leaving Auburn in 2008, did not immediately return a message left with Texas Tech seeking comment.

Wasn't Jim Donnan accused of a fraudulent investment scheme too?

SEC coaches get so used to not having to obey the rules, they forget it only applies to sports.

Guess they were tired of the 3 & out stepping stone thing. Still, this came from way out in left field.

The rumor is that he hated Lubbock and the administration. On top of that, they supposedly screwed him out of a $800,000 bonus this year.

still can't grasp leaving the Big 12 for a league that is going up in smoke. unless at his age, his time horizon is only a couple seasons anyway.

Assuming they do hire him, I'll be interested to see how Kliff Kingsbury's career goes at Tech. No way they would even consider someone with his resume if he wasn't a beloved former player. Not near enough experience. I hope he does well though.

The NonConference

Central Arkansas
@ UTEP
Arkansas

Arkansas may or may not be improved from last year but this is a move in the right direction for Tech, who hasn't faced a major conference opponent OOC since 2004.

It seems hell hath no fury like a former defensive coordinator scorned.

He denies it. Still, if TTU doesn't change signals, it's on them.
