Re: MIT Engineers

I almost got the 800 on the math. Didn’t happen unless by “almost” you mean 500. Anyway, my verbal was shit. It was shit specifically because I never read books in high school, nothing. I read only what was asked of me. I never read big books (with big words) for entertainment, mostly because I was...

Re: MIT Engineers

I did very well on the ACT and a big reason why I got into the schools I did. It’s definitely how I got into UNC from out of state.

Re: MIT Engineers

All I care about is that he prepares as well as he can. He’s got every resource imaginable available to him and if he squanders that, I’ll be pissed. He’s not going to because I’m paying very careful attention between now and June. And, whatever score he gets will be fine with me since I’ll know he ...

Re: MIT Engineers

The main reason we kept home-schooling our son is because we like taking trips when we want to and not when school is on break. Granted our Classical Conversations curriculum is sort of running aground with science and history (good thing our son is smarter than that) but it's been good overall. Ma...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

I use Market St as an example because I’m often walking along it from our office to meetings when I’m town. When I started this business and ended up in SF a lot (late 2020), Market St near my office in the financial district was a bad scene. Further up by the Warfield, past Union Sq and near the Ci...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

No, it’s just part of my occasional wanderings across the internet and this time I saw my name mentioned. I don’t expect to get laid off but empty nest life is close and retirement (or significant slow down) is not that far away so maybe I’ll fill those free hours here. Just like I drew it up in all...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

How did you find the city on your visit, Cletus? Still a hellscape of homeless zombies, crime, and feces and needles in the streets, even in Pacific Heights and Nob Hill? That's what I hear. At least whenever I watch Fox News... I’m in SF about 7-10 times a year and I would say it is both nowhere n...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

A fighter named Ryan Garcia had a mental breakdown on twitter. It was enough to get it trending I found this and am pretty sure that I do not want to join whatever camp he was hanging out in. All kidding aside, I have a feeling Ryan Garcia has not spent much time at the Grove and I find it amusing ...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

Bohemian Grove was trending on twitter yesterday. Remember when Cletus was talking about that probably more than a decade ago and all the heavy hitters that are there. I can't recall correctly his description of it but I got the impression he was presenting it like the Skull and Bones at Yale for o...

Re: Music

We're in good hands if our Grove overlords are grooving to the Dead... It’s a group of mainly late 60’s guys from the Bay Area so the Dead is pretty central to many of their histories. It will be interesting to see what band is the soundtrack to the Grove in 15-20 years when my generation is the ma...

There was a lot of Dead tribute stuff at the Grove this past weekend. I’m guessing Bob will be up hanging out playing a little bit the next week or so.

Karen in training When I was nine, I came to school one day and saw my teacher crying and hugging another teacher. She said (with tears in her eyes) Reagan won last night! We are all going to die in a nuclear war! Why am I teaching these kids???? About 3 seconds later, the person she was hugging, p...

I was bored today and decided to do some bookmark triage of all the shit not in my favorites that have built up over the years and came across my TGP bookmark for the first time in I have no idea how long. So, I decided to log in and see what was up and the first thing I see is a series of posts by ...

fuck that right, I forgot, they're brown. Anyway, I don't know how many of these kids are showing up by themselves. I don't what is done with those kids but, given that we are dealing with the Trump admin, I'm sure they handle it in the worst possible way like, for example, the concentration camps ...
