Re: College Football

Sounds like Irsay is trying to alleviate some of the backlash that might come fron the fans if Peyton does leave. "Hey, it was up to him. We tried!"

Re: Baseball

I can't quite explain it but the thing looks a lot worse in person. It almost looks like something Communist Block Russia would've built in one of their tropical precincts back in the 60s/70s to try to to one-up the Astrodome or Superdome.

Re: College Football

Schaub's health concerns aren't nearly as strong as Manning's. Schaub is four to five years younger than Peyton. The Texans offense was among the Top 5 in total points scored and #2 in scoring differential when Schaub went down (and that's with AJ being out for five games). Schaub will never be as g...

Re: Music

The late comedian Alan King once commented on his dad, who woke up every morning and downed a few ounces of liquor before getting things rolling, even as an elderly man. His mother would constantly jump on him about it until Alan finally said to her, "Ma, he's 93 years old. Maybe he's right!&qu...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

Houston's actually more open to outside (ie, outside the Big XII) influences than any other metropolitan area in the state. There is a growing number of recruits from the Houston area going to the Big Ten, Pac 12 an MWC schools. The ACC has made greater inroads as well. DFW is recruited pretty well ...

Re: Music - A place where you can easily drop in You Tube cl

BTW, I came across jazz guitarist Pat Martino's "Midnight Special", a track off his 2011 CD "Undeniable." Nice, jazz club flow to it, where you can just grab you a little taste, sit back and bob your head for seven or eight minutes. I've always felt him to be an underrated jazz a...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops

If Texas bolts for a new conference (or, even less likely, go independent), it won't be going to the SEC. Texas would likely go Big Ten or Pac 10 before that, and that's not very likely either at this point.

Re: Baseball

don't see a whole lot of parking there. If there isn't decent public transportation how is this going to work? Charlotte has been smart in building their sports facilities uptown near the rail line, but it also has ample parking for the commuters. Same thing here in Houston. To be honest, the whole...

Re: Music - A place where you can easily drop in You Tube cl

Same here. It wasn't Whitney's voice, particularly in the early days, as much as it was the style of music that was mated with her voice not resonating. But it's not a unique viewpoint held by people in my age and social demographic. There came a point, even after maybe just five years into her care...

Re: Baseball

Unfortunately, there isn't any rail within direct access of the stadium (the closest that METRORail comes is about a mile and a half or so to the north). Obviously, the bus runs pretty frequently along that stretch of NW 7th Street but it doesn't lend itself to businesspersons who might willing to c...

Re: Florida State Seminoles

NC has always been a conservative state but maybe not as yahoo redneck as some of our southern brethren. however, NC's cities are, as in many states, less conservative than its rural areas. and of course, there are a lot of colored here and they aren't conservative. I think that's also the case wit...

Another view from maybe September or October. http://www.greenmobilitynetwork.org/sites/default/files/marlinsstadium.jpg Now, in all fairness, the area's not quite as low income as it was 5-10 years ago; theyv'e actually tried to build some more middle income / white collar-class developments in the...

Re: Baseball

BTW, I went home over the Xmas holidays and got to see the new Marlins' stadium up close and personal. It might be the worst-looking yard in the majors. Of course, I realize that there are probably a few cosmetic additions that haven't been included yet but still... it's a boring white almost everyw...

stat of the day big 12 is so desparate to get texas into the big dance that after when we dominated to a 13 point lead at halftime in austin saturday the refs stepped in texas went to the free throw line 28 times in the second half to our 0 28-0--all told 32 straight times they went to the free thr...

When I heard her sing last year, I was was sick to my stomach. That most beautiful voice was ruined. She had the world by the ass... Her most recent interviews (like over the last two or three years) should've been a red flag. Even in the interviews you could hear a raspiness to her voice. I also t...
